BILT App Officially Available in India

Grapevine, TX, August 11, 2020 – BILT Incorporated announced today the BILT app is now officially available in India, a country with more than 500 million smartphone users.  BILT Intelligent Instructions® are currently being used for assembly & installation in 202 countries and 10 languages.  BILT hosts 3D interactive instructions for thousands of products like Weber-Stephen grills and Samsung appliances to enable a premium customer set-up experience right out of the box.

With an estimated 350 million people, the Indian middle class is larger than the entire population of the United States.  While Europe and North America’s smartphone markets are creeping towards saturation, India’s is only beginning to gain momentum.  Smartphone adoption has far outpaced predictions, and India is projected to have more than 860 million smartphone users by 2022.  The increasing availability of smartphones provides friction-free payment options which, in turn, boosts ecommerce and its sophisticated mobile cousin, mcommerce.  Experts anticipated stunning growth in India’s ecommerce sector even before the global lockdown galvanized online shopping.

“India has tremendous potential for us, and COVID has been a catalyst for ecommerce growth globally,” says BILT President & COO Ahmed Qureshi. “With consumers more willing than ever to buy online and assemble at home, BILT will become invaluable to Indian consumers who are taking precautions to avoid in-person retail shopping.  Social distancing is a challenge in mega cities like Mumbai and Delhi.”  With more than 50 million residents in those two metropolitan areas alone, that may be the understatement of the year.

While India’s retail industry is estimated to be worth $850 billion, ecommerce represents less than four percent of that, which indicates big headroom for growth, according to a Bain & Company report.  Over the past three years, Indian ecommerce has had the highest growth rate in the world at more than 50% annually, resulting in millions of new jobs.  With novel income comes increased discretionary spending in more tech-savvy households, which increases online retail purchasing, which underlines the need to improve the consumer experience right out of the box.

As COVID-19 rages on, consumers around the world are tackling set up on their own rather than introducing non-essential service providers into their home to do the job.  Whoever manages set up, assembly or installation of new purchases will benefit from 3D interactive instructions on the free-to-use BILT app.  BILT is proven to reduce errors and set up time.

Besides instructions, BILT holds warranty & registration information, allowing manufacturers to connect with their customers in a way that has never been done before.  The result is fewer returns and lower customer support costs as well as increased customer loyalty, more positive reviews, and higher Net Promoter® Scores & star ratings.  Those those product indicators are more important than ever, as more consumers become comfortable making purchase decisions based solely on the research they do online.
