BILT the Night Before Christmas

A BILT Christmas Carol

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
The kids finally slept—time to build a Dollhouse;
I’d bought it at COSTCO, concealed it with care,
In hopes that my daughters would not find it there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Barbie Dolls danced in their heads;
Mom was busy with wrapping, so I set my cap,
I knew I must finish before I could nap,

When out of the box there arose such a clatter,
Mom dashed from the kitchen to see what was the matter.
Eighty-six parts and pieces came out like a flash, (86 parts & pieces appeared at my feet,)
The paper instructions belonged in the trash. (And paper instructions are so obsolete.)

I started to panic–my anxiety grew,
I looked left and right puzzling what I should do.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the BILT app logo—I had nothing to fear!

It downloaded free from the App store so quick,
I thought for a moment I’d had help from St. Nick.
Selecting the model from KidKraft—a snap!
I smiled when the other brands popped up on the app:

There’s Weber and Bell Sports, Home Depot galore!
Yale, Teeter, and Ashley, Delta, Murphy Door!
With 3D instructions to guide me along
The simple, clear process—I could not go wrong!

I noted the parts list, the tools I should use,
Allen wrench was included, among all the screws.
I got out my Phillips head, saw where to start,
I dragged to manipulate, gosh, I felt smart!

I tapped on the image, zoomed out and zoomed in.
The CAD came to life! The screws screwed right in!
The walls, stairs and pillars connected four floors,
With bannisters, windows, garage and hinged doors.

And then in a twinkling, I added the roof,
And a side elevator, this app was foolproof!
I stood up to stretch and was turning around,
When Mom, from the kitchen came in with a bound.

Her eyes—how they sparkled, in praise did I bask,
Amazed at how quickly I’d finished my task.
With a wink of my eye and a twist of my head
And BILT in my pocket, I could go to bed!

We spoke not a word, but upstairs did we creep,
For once, Christmas morn, we’ll not beg for more sleep!
I pictured their joy as I pulled up the quilt,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND THANK HEAVEN FOR BILT!
