What Is CAD Software?
CAD means computer-aided design. CAD software is used by a number of different people and companies such as engineers, architects, drafters, and artists. The software can be utilized to create 2-D designs or 3-D models for a variety of projects for the above-mentioned types of people. According to Autodesk, “These programs can help you explore design ideas, visualize concepts through photorealistic renderings, and simulate how a design will perform in the real world. [Most] let you apply multiple light sources, rotate objects in three dimensions, and render designs from any angle.” CAD is extremely helpful for businesses, especially in our modern times. Wikipedia describes how it came to be: “Starting around the mid-1970s, as computer aided design systems began to provide more capability than just an ability to reproduce manual drafting with electronic drafting, the cost benefit for companies to switch to CAD became apparent. The benefits of CAD systems over manual drafting are the capabilities one often takes for granted from computer systems today. CAD has become an especially important technology within the scope of computer-aided technologies, with benefits such as lower product development costs and a greatly shortened design cycle. CAD enables designers to layout and develop work on screen, print it out and save it for future editing, saving time on their drawings. ” Keeping up with the times can be a large benefit to companies, in terms of saving time and money.
Techopedia states, “CAD may facilitate the manufacturing process by transferring detailed diagrams of a product’s materials, processes, tolerances, and dimensions with specific conventions for the product in question. It can be used to produce either two-dimensional or three-dimensional diagrams, which can then be rotated to be viewed from any angle, even from the inside looking out.” They also go on to describe some specific purposes of CAD software. Some include developing detailed 2-D and 3-D engineering designs that show physical components of manufactured products. This can show product layout as well as strength and dynamic analysis of the assembly and manufacturing processes themselves.
How BILT Uses CAD Software
BILT uses CAD and visual enterprise software to create our 3D Intelligent InstructionsTM. Being able to create these 3D instructions for your customers is vital to the customer service experience they will have. The ability to see your products three dimensionally will create ease in assembling the product as well as give the customer a fun experience. They will be able to zoom in and out and rotate 360 degrees to really get to know and understand your product. Customer pain points will be largely taken care of and customers will be much less likely to return your products. It also helps to increase your Net Promoter Score because so many of your customers will be excited to refer your company to their friends and families. This CAD technology provides a world of new opportunities for businesses and BILT is utilizing it for your best interests.
